The Department of Geology & Environmental Sciences of the State University of New York at Fredonia released the results of its research regarding microplastic contamination of bottled water.
And out of 259 individual bottles tested, from 27 different lots across 11 brands and purchased from 19 locations in 9 countries, the results are quite scary (and sadly not surpising either): "93% of bottled water showed some sign of microplastic contamination".
Another good reason to drop your bottles, use reusable ones instead, and of course when you can go for tap water.
