Coop goes plastic-free for bio-products

The news are obviously great:

Coop, one of the biggest supermarket and retail brands in Switzerland, announced earlier this month that bio fruits and vegetables would not be packed in plastic by the coming Fall. Answering customers' requests, the brand will introduce the measure step-by-step, for instance by using non-plastic-based packaging, or by attaching long-shaped vegetables (leek, rhubarb, celery...) with bands rather than entire plastic covers.

Ideally this will incentivize other brands, supermarkets and producers to do the same and hopefully consider a entirely plastic-free offer. Swiss supermarkets are generally fairly advanced compared to those in other countries, but there is still a lot to be done to go zero-plastic if not zero-waste.
