Migros starts collecting plastics

Great news for our Swiss recycling lovers!

Migros has announced last week the release of the Plastik-Sammelsack, a collection bag for plastics, giving its customer the option to collect and bring back plastic packaging to the supermarket. Plastics will be sorted (for instance PET bottles will be removed to re-enter their specific waste stream) and treated by Migros subsidiaries to create new packaging.

The campaign will be launched on 29 June in the Migros stores in Lucerne, and if successful, expanded to Geneva, Neuenburg-Freiburg, Waadt and Wallis. Spring 2021 should see the operation reach all Migros stores in the country.

Please please please, good old Swiss readers, when it launches: share the campaign, be actively part of it, let's make it a success!
